For many followers of the art trail, the weekend offers up a fantastic opportunity to buy beautiful, handmade gifts. However, if you can't make it to the actual event, don't panic.
Last year, to celebrate our 10th anniversary, we have introduced our very own hand-printed gift tokens that can be used to purchase artworks from any artist participating in the North Bristol Art Trail. The tokens, available to the value of £10, £30, and £80, can be used throughout the year as well as during the trail, so there is plenty of time to find the perfect artwork for yourself or as a gift.
You can purchase the tokens from Artemis, 214 Gloucester Road, Bristol, BS7 8NU. Work may be purchased directly from artists using the contact details found on the NBA website www.northbristolartists.org.uk
NBA artist Theo Wood has uploaded a video to Youtube as part of an exploration of time passing, stillness and movement. However, 'Now and Then' was anything but a breeze to make. It is one of the first completed works resulting from Theo remaining in a 3m circle at 51oN 4oW for 12 hours one day this summer. Click here to see the video.
Theo commented: "I think some words from the written log that I wrote in between recording what I saw and heard convey a little of the background to the video.
‘1240
The train log is a task. It keeps me busy. The trains run at slightly erratic times - perhaps they wait further down the track or in the station? I can see this by comparing the times of the trains from one hour to another.
1340
Can't believe another hour has passed. Could one wait for a train so patiently? Shoot some minutes of video.'
Theo is now working on some prints as well as a 3D piece inspired by day.

NBA artist Theo Wood has had her work ‘Crown of Cherries on a Belgian Bun' selected for the the Royal West of England Academy autumn exhibition.
Commenting she said, "Just last week I was browsing a medieval flower book (as you do), and found out that in the 13th century, midsummer fairs were known as ‘cherry fairs', as the cherries were the first fruit to ripen. There was a saying, ‘This life I see is but a cherry fair'. For interested horticulturalists, grafting enabled more succulent species to be introduced from the Middle East."
The exhibition will run from 24th October until 12th December.

With this in mind, and to celebrate our tenth year, we have put together some activities and a competition for your children.
To add to the anticipation of visiting new venues, children can play 'Hunt the number tens'.
At every venue there will be a number 10 hidden somewhere for beady little eyes to discover.
All they have to do is write down the hiding place next to the venue number on special competition entry forms, which will be available at every house/venue on the trail.
On the back of the entry form will be space for children to create their own mini masterpieces, inspired perhaps by the artwork on the trail.
The forms need to be handed in by December 3rd to one of three venues - 21, 43 or 47.
We wish you all the best of luck. The ten best entries will be posted onto the nba website for all to see and admire.

This year NBA are delighted to welcome HMP Bristol prison to the art trail. The prison will be displaying an exhibition of work by men attending education in the prison.
The prison's involvement in the trail was originally suggested by Alan Bradley, who works for the Prison Advice and Care Trust at HMP Bristol. He said that the visitors' centre on Cambridge Rd would host "an exhibition of work by learners in the education department focusing on arts and music.
The creative courses at HMP Bristol provide a subtle platform for the incorporation of core skills (literacy, numeracy and IT skills) which lead to national accreditation. Building confidence and self awareness are key elements to offender rehabilitation.
For more information about the Prison Advice and Care Trust go to www.prisonadvice.org.uk/
